Manchester City EDS coach Patrick Vieira has left the club’s youth set-up and signed a deal to become New York City FC’s new manager, effective 1st January, which will then become a three year deal after. The deal has been announced the day after he managed his young side to a 1-0 win over Norwich at home yesterday.
He joins having been coach of Manchester City’s development squad (Under-21’s), where he had the chance to work with some of England’s finest young players. However, he has now taken up his first senior management position and it will be very interesting to see if he can make the step-up into management.

New York City failed to make the play-offs in their inaugural MLS season, which is one of the factors behind Jason Kreis’ departure from the Yankee Stadium. It was surprising given the number of quality players at their disposal. David Villa, Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard just to name a few.
It was a bedding in process for New York City and Vieira will hopefully be able to push them on in their second season and his main aim should be the play-offs.
The ex Arsenal and City midfielder has penned a three-year contract with the club.
