Manchester City have allowed winger Brandon Barker to join Championship strugglers Rotherham on loan in a deal that is believed to end in January.
Both sides announced that the deal had been completed, although neither disclosed how long the loan would last.
The 19-year-old is yet to make his professional debut for the Premier League leaders and fighting for his place in the squad over other youth players has become tougher with the arrival of Patrick Roberts from Fulham and the emergence of attacking duo Manu Garcia and Kelechi Iheanacho, with the latter being named on a 40-man shortlist for Europe’s Golden Boy of 2015.
The England U20-international featured for the Three Lions in last summer’s Toulon Tournament and has been on two pre-season tours with Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Barker is eligible to make his debut for the Millers on Saturday when Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich Town visit the New York Stadium and is poised to be handed the number 26 shirt for his stay in the South of Yorkshire.
The wide midfielder joins Rotherham with Neil Redfearn side sitting at the foot of the table, five points adrift from safety.
