UPDATE: Rangers have ended their interest in City’s George Glendon and the youngster has returned to City.
Mark Warburton had this to say on the player:
He’s a good technical player and a good all-round guy as well, but he’s gone back to his club.
Manchester City U21 captain George Glendon is on trial with Scottish Championship side Rangers ahead of a proposed January loan move, according to the Daily Record.
The 20-year-old midfielder moved further north for one week and has already featured for Mark Warburton’s side in the NextGen series.
Since arriving at Ibrox, the former Brentford boss has focused his attentions on finding youth players to become an intricate part of his side in the future. Warburton has already signed Gedion Zelalem on loan from Arsenal as well as Tottenham duo Dominic Ball and Nathan Oduwa until the end of the season. On top of that, former Barcelona and Manchester City starlet Gai Assulin also had a failed trial in Scotland last month.
City’s ex-England U17 international has been an integral part of Patrick Vieira’s elite development squad this term but is looking to break into senior football to gain experience before trying to break into the first-team squad at the Etihad.
A loan move away from the two-time Premier League champions would certainly benefit Glendon, but will Manchester City frustrate fans once more by, once again, including an option-to-buy clause in the loan deal?
