Chelsea star Eden Hazard has admitted that he has been impressed by Kevin De Bruyne’s adaptation to life in the Premier League but does not want his compatriot to succeed with title rivals Manchester City.
Hazard’s Chelsea have made a complacent start to the season, with the Blues currently lurking just above the dreaded relegation zone, despite being favourites to retain the Premier League title before the season started. In an opposing situation, De Bruyne has helped City win six of their first eight matches in the league, scoring four goals and creating one in the process.
In an interview with TeamTalk, Hazard congratulated De Bruyne on the impact that he has had on the Premier League leaders but does not wish his counterpart good luck for the remainder of his career at the Etihad.
“I’ve long known Kevin to be one of the best players in Europe. He has settled in well at City, and has already boosted their attack. I hope he does well, but not too well! Thankfully for us, City have already dropped quite a few points despite Kevin’s arrival.”
De Bruyne is expected to start when recently-promoted Bournemouth visit the Etihad on Saturday, with David Silva and Sergio Aguero both facing spells on the sideline after getting injured on international duty.
