According to Reuters, Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of Belgium’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra on Saturday because of a calf strain. However, in agreement with City, Belgium have allowed the defender to train on his own over the course of the next few days.
Marc Wilmots and officials at Manchester City have come up with an approach with the centre-back to prevent further injury.
If fit, Kompany will be considered for selection when Belgium take on Israel in the final qualifier in Group B.
City boss Manuel Pellegini doesn’t agree with Wilmot’s decision to call the skipper up to the national team when he is suffering from an injury when he should have been given time to rest.
Pellegrini admitted it wasn’t in his power to prevent Kompany from being called up to represent his country but made everyone aware that the duel Captain wouldn’t be fit enough in time to feature.
Vincent continues to recover from his calf injury and we will see the way he improves the next weeks.Vincent cannot play (for Belgium). I cannot ask him not to travel. If the national team call him, he must go, but he cannot play, so I don’t think he will play.
