City ran riot in the first half, with Sergio Aguero bagging one from the spot before Kevin De Bruyne continued his rich vein of form with a second goal in two games. Vito Mannone put through his own net for the home side, before Raheem Sterling added gloss on a professional victory.
Ola Toivonen grabbed a consolation for Sunderland, denying a clean sheet for City but it still remained a great night’s work for Pellegrini and his troops.
Patrick Roberts, Manu Garcia and George Evans all made their debuts from the bench to cap off a productive evening for the Blues.
