As you know, the Blues have started the season in stunning style and you could say that the international break has come at a bad time, with City in a great run of form.
Now in September, we can look back at August as a month which brought about a more balanced, complete and dangerous City side than we have seen for a while.
City finished August with four wins out of four and scored a number of wonderful goals along the way.
Here we select our top three goals of the month.
Goal 3 – Yaya Toure vs West Brom
The first one in this game had plenty of fortune about it and it was a tough call to decide whether Yaya or David Silva had indeed scored the first goal. But the second goal from the monstrous Ivorian had no luck about it all; it was a goal of sheer quality.
Toure combined wonderfully with Wilfried Bony, who teed up Toure on the edge of the area. Yaya planted in an absolute belter into the top corner that left Boaz Myhill, in the West Brom goal, absolutely helpless.

Goal 2 – Nasri vs Everton
It’s another goal involving Yaya Toure and one which City fans could probably watch on a loop. With the score already at 1-0 and City withstanding a fair amount of Everton pressure, City demonstrated their quality in their final third with a stunning team move.
Nasri fed Toure on the edge, who produced the most outrageous no-look pass before the ball was back with the Frenchman for him to deftly dink the ball over Tim Howard.
Goal 1 – Fernandinho vs Chelsea
City certainly had a number of impressive strikes in the month of August and two of those came courtesy of Fernandinho, more refreshed and energetic than ever. Pellegrini praised the Brazilian’s start to the season and added that we were now seeing the 2013/14 season.
‘Ferna’ scored a couple of great goals that year, but his strike against Chelsea this season was something special.
The ball dropped to him perfectly and he swept it home with aplomb, well out of the reach of Asmir Begovic.

Euphoric scenes as City laid down a marker and soundly dismantled Champions Chelsea.
