I’m excited, we all are. 12 points from four games and zero goals conceded has exceeded any expectations I had going into this season, and beyond! From the four games we’ve just played, I’d have happily taken 8 points (with draws from both Chelsea and Everton) but I’m not complaining and am taking the dream start with open arms. Looking forward, I give an overview of our next three Premier League encounters in September.
As we come to the first ‘International Break’ of the season, something I’m sure we could all do without, I don’t know whether to view it as a well-earned breather from such a fantastic start or as an opportunity to get in the way of this fantastic run of form and hinder our flow? What is for certain is that we have carried on the great form we finished last season so well with…
A club record number of successive wins have ensued the 4-2 defeat at Old Trafford last season and is yet to be stopped, however the excellent form Manuel Pellegrini’s men have shown hasn’t showed any signs of slowing as they continye to dispatch teams at ease.
Our next three Premier League fixtures are as follows: Crystal Palace (a), West Ham (h) and Spurs (a). Selhurst Park is a tricky place to get three points but even more so when The Eagles are flying ( if you will) yet in the kind of form we’ve shown to not come away with a victory would be somewhat disappointing. A certain Sergio Aguero is due a good showing, maybe this is the one…
West Ham are a weird one. Who says we wont be their third ‘big’ scalp of the season? They’ve already gone to The Emirates and Anfield and taken maximum points- so Kompany and co. will have to be very attentive on the day. Yet, this is West Ham- a far inferior outfit to our own- so not to beat them infront of a home crowd would be surprising to say the least. Bring it on.
We enjoy playing at White Hart Lane. Actually wait, no, Aguero enjoys playing at White Hart Lane! We,and he, always seem to do well in London – Spurs also look incredibly Spurs-like this season, which means very mediocre. Their cult-hero Harry Kane has seen the goals dry up and the likelihood of a top performance from them screams unlikely…
So in conclusion, I’m optimistic. But why wouldn’t I be? The way we’ve looked this season is utterly dominant and the manor in which we’re beating teams is impressive. We’re also yet to really see any of our new summer acquisitions, bar Sterling, as Otamendi, De Bruyne and Delph haven’t really had a chance yet!
