Jason Denayer is in talks with Marseille over a loan move after a switch to Turkish club Galatasaray fell through, according to Goal.com.
The Belgian international was in Istanbul on Monday night to watch Galatasaray’s 2-1 defeat to newly promoted Osmanlispor, but the Turkish champions’ insistence on a right-to-buy clause scuppered the deal.
Denayer has now travelled to Marseille to discuss terms with the Ligue 1 giants amidst interested from Sunderland and German club Bayer Leverkusen.
City have granted the 20-year-old permission to speak to clubs over a loan move after the acquisition of Nicolas Otamendi demoted Denayer to fifth choice at centre-back behind Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis.
He would be paired alongside former City youngster Karim Rekik at Marseille, who joined the French club this summer.
Denayer enjoyed a stellar season on loan at Celtic in 2014/15, winning the Scottish Young Player of the Year award and making three appearances for Belgium.
