City to sign De Bruyne this week

The Daily Star say City are confident they can bring in Kevin De Bruyne this week, although they still need to agree a fee with Wolfsburg for the services of the Belgium international, who is a long-term target for The Blues.

The Star say The Blues are so confident of bringing in the Belgian midfielder, that they’ve already sorted his medical, with personal terms seemingly a formality and the fee agreement with Wolfsburg being the main issue.

Rumour has it that De Bruyne’s current side will listen to offers for around £45 million, which would make the ex-Chelsea man City’s second most expensive signing of the summer, and of their history – losing out to Raheem Sterling on both counts.

De Bruyne will allegedly be offered a six-year deal, and be paid £140,000 per week, or £7.28 million per year, in an attempt to make him return to the Premier League just 18 months after leaving it in an £18 million deal, with his stock significantly enhanced.

He managed to get 10 goals and 20 assists for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga last season, a total which won him the Player of the Year award in Germany, and he’s set to become the first City signing from Wolfsburg since Edin Dzeko in January 2011.

Manuel Pellegrini also said “we’ll see” on De Bruyne, when asked by a fan outside the training ground if the Belgian was going to be bought this summer. If he was, it’d end a saga which has lasted even longer than Raheem Sterling’s did earlier this summer.

Kevin De Bruyne is likely to become City’s fifth signing of the summer, after Enes Unal, Sterling, Fabian Delph and Patrick Roberts.
