Man City agree €40m deal for Palmeiras winger Allan

City have reached an agreement with Palmeiras to sign Brazilian winger Allan, with Enzo Maresca set to add another attacking option to his squad.

Fabrizio Romano reports that City have struck a verbal agreement with the Brazilian club, describing the transfer as a “here we go”.

The 22-year-old is set to move for €40m (£34m) plus add-ons, with documents now being exchanged between the two clubs.

The agreement represents the decisive breakthrough after City had already reached personal terms with Allan and opened negotiations with Palmeiras. [ReadManCity reported that development last week.]

The deal has subsequently been backed up elsewhere, with The Guardian reporting that City have agreed a £34m transfer and Reuters also confirming an agreement for the Palmeiras player.

Allan set to strengthen Maresca’s options

Allan has emerged as City’s preferred addition on the wing during the closing stages of the transfer window, with the club reshaping Maresca’s attacking options following Savinho’s expected move to Tottenham.

He came through the Palmeiras academy and has made 96 senior appearances, contributing nine goals and 12 assists, according to Reuters.

Primarily used from the right but capable of operating more centrally, Allan gives Maresca another left-footed option with the ability to carry the ball and attack defenders one-against-one.

The transfer is not yet officially complete, but the agreement between the clubs leaves City seemingly needing only to complete the remaining formalities before announcing another summer arrival.
