## Man City team news: Semenyo absent from travelling squad

Maresca has confirmed his 23-man squad for the trip to Leipzig, with Semenyo continuing his recovery from the knee injury he suffered against Ipswich Town last month.

The Ghana international has missed City’s past four matches, but Maresca otherwise has most of his senior players available.

Foden is in contention to start after scoring a hat-trick in the 5-1 Champions League victory over AEK Athens, while Cherki could also return to the starting line-up.

Marc Guehi and Nico O’Reilly are options in defence after starting Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Brighton on the bench. Erling Haaland is also available and could return to the side.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is expected to retain his place in goal, although Maresca has made clear that no player is guaranteed selection.

City’s [official travelling squad announcement](https://www.mancity.com/news/mens/travelling-party-rb-leipzig-manchester-city-63929314) includes Haaland, Foden, Cherki, Jeremy Doku, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Mateo Kovacic.

## RB Leipzig team news: Baumgartner set to start

Leipzig will be without Assan Ouedraogo and Marc Guiu, while defender Maxime Esteve remains a doubt after missing Saturday’s Bundesliga victory over Schalke.

Ouedraogo is recovering from a shoulder injury, while Guiu has a hamstring problem. Esteve is being assessed after picking up a knock in the German Cup.

There is better news for Leipzig manager Martin Demichelis, who has confirmed Christoph Baumgartner will start after recovering from a lengthy injury absence.

Antonio Nusa is another player City will need to watch. The Norwegian scored and provided an assist in Leipzig’s 2-0 victory at Schalke and has been one of their most productive attacking players this season.

## City looking for third Champions League win

City have taken six points from their opening three league-phase matches, beating Porto 2-0 and AEK Athens 5-1 either side of a 4-2 home defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.

Leipzig have three points after beating PSV Eindhoven, although they suffered 4-1 defeats against Como and Real Madrid.

The German side have won all five of their home matches in all competitions this season, scoring 19 goals without conceding.

City will have encouragement from Haaland’s record against Leipzig. The Norwegian has scored 12 goals in eight appearances against the club, including five in City’s 7-0 Champions League victory in March 2023.

Maresca’s side have struggled for results domestically in recent weeks, but another European victory would strengthen their position in the race for automatic qualification to the last 16.
