# Javier Tebas demands ‘justice’ after Man City financial case verdict

**LaLiga president Javier Tebas has renewed his criticism of Manchester City and called for “justice” following the verdict in the club’s long-running Premier League financial case.**

Tebas, a persistent critic of [Manchester City](https://readmancity.com/) and their ownership model, addressed the case while speaking at the Sportel conference in Monaco. An independent commission found City guilty of 114 of the 115 original charges brought by the Premier League. The club have appealed the decision, maintaining their innocence and arguing that the commission’s findings contain material errors of law, principle and fact.

## Tebas calls for ‘justice’ over Man City case

Speaking at Sportel, Tebas said: “We need justice for the Premier League, for Europe and UEFA.”

The LaLiga president also said he was interested in seeing how the case ultimately ends, given its significance to English and European football. Tebas has been publicly critical of City for almost a decade. In 2017, he questioned the spending by City and Paris Saint-Germain and used the term “financial doping” to describe the impact of their ownership models on European football.

He also recalled that City chief executive Ferran Soriano contacted him following those comments. Tebas has no formal role in determining City’s appeal or any eventual sanction, but his latest intervention adds another prominent voice to the debate surrounding the case.

Scrutiny has also extended beyond the Premier League. The UK’s Financial Reporting Council has begun [considering accounting issues arising from the Man City case](https://readmancity.com/2026/10/22/man-city-accounting-financial-reporting-council-inquiries/), although no formal FRC investigation has been opened. City lodged their appeal on October 1 and said the commission’s opinion was “unsafe”. Until that process is completed, the outcome and any potential sanctions remain unresolved.
