# Man City player ratings v PSG: Haaland leads fightback after nightmare first half

**[City](https://readmancity.com/) suffered their first defeat under Enzo Maresca as Paris Saint-Germain won 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium.**

City were 3-0 down after 32 minutes before Maresca made three changes at half-time. Erling Haaland scored twice during an improved second half, but the Champions League holders had already done enough.

## Man City player ratings

**Gianluigi Donnarumma – 4**

A difficult night against his former club. His distribution contributed to problems before PSG’s third, and he should have dealt better with Maghnes Akliouche’s effort for the fourth. Saved Ferran Torres’ late penalty.

**Abdukodir Khusanov – 5**

Struggled at right-back against Desire Doue during PSG’s dominant opening half. Moved into the centre after the break and looked more comfortable.

**Ruben Dias – 4**

City lacked control at the back as PSG scored three times in the opening 32 minutes. Taken off at half-time as Maresca changed the defence.

**Marc Guehi – 5**

Lost Ousmane Dembele for PSG’s second goal and had a difficult first half alongside Dias. Improved after the interval.

**Josko Gvardiol – 6**

Carried an attacking threat despite City’s problems. Went close with one header before having another cleared off the line in the second half.

**Elliot Anderson – 6**

Overrun at times by PSG’s midfield before the break but grew into the game as City became more aggressive in the second half.

**Enzo Fernandez – 6**

Much more influential after half-time. Headed a good chance wide and later struck the woodwork as City pushed for a way back.

**Antoine Semenyo – 5**

Worked hard but could not turn his opportunities into a goal. City needed more from him in the final third.

**Rayan Cherki – 4**

Unable to find space against PSG and struggled to influence the game. Replaced at half-time.

**Jeremy Doku – 5**

Forced Matvey Safonov into a save but could not build on his performance at Liverpool. Also withdrawn at the interval.

**Erling Haaland – 8**

City’s best player. Scored twice, hit the woodwork and was denied a hat-trick by Safonov. His first goal took him past Sergio Aguero as City’s leading scorer in the Champions League proper.

## Man City substitute ratings

**Matheus Nunes – 5**

Helped City play with greater intensity after replacing Dias at half-time, but conceded the late penalty for a foul on Nuno Mendes.

**Ayyoub Bouaddi – 7**

Helped City regain a measure of control in midfield and supplied the low cross for Haaland’s second goal.

**Iliman Ndiaye – 7**

Made an immediate impact. Forced a close-range save before crossing for Haaland’s first goal and gave City greater threat from the right.

**Nico O’Reilly – N/A**

Replaced Fernandez in the final minute and was not on long enough to rate.
