Foden was sent off during City’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on 13 September.

His three-match domestic suspension began with the 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Norwich before he served the second game against Sunderland. Maresca confirmed before the Norwich tie that Liverpool would be the final match of the ban.

Foden will therefore be available again domestically after the trip to Anfield.

Jeremy Doku – fit

Doku can come off City’s injury list after returning against Sunderland.

The winger had not played since picking up a knock in the Community Shield defeat by Arsenal. He subsequently missed five matches before being named among the substitutes for Sunday’s 5-3 victory.

Doku replaced Iliman Ndiaye after 75 minutes against Sunderland, making his first appearance since the opening weekend of the season.
