Man City face Brighton if Norwich are beaten in Carabao Cup

City will host Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium in the Carabao Cup fourth round if they beat Norwich City tonight in Thursday’s remaining third-round tie.

City are the current holders of the competition. The draw for the last 16 was completed on Wednesday night, with the City-Norwich fixture the only third-round match still to be played.

Man City draw Brighton at Etihad pending Norwich victory

City’s path to a home draw against Brighton depends, of course, on the outcome at Norwich later.

Brighton have already booked their spot in the fourth round, leaving City as the only side in this pairing still to confirm their place. As holders of the trophy, City will be keen to avoid an upset against a Norwich side who will be determined to cause a shock.

Supporters can follow the build-up and result through the club’s full fixture schedule and results as the Norwich fixture approaches.

Carabao Cup Fourth Round draw details…

The wider fourth-round draw produced several notable pairings. League Two side Fleetwood Town reached this stage for the first time in their history after beating Sheffield United 1-0 on Wednesday night. They will now host Premier League champions Arsenal, who beat Ipswich Town 4-2 under Mikel Arteta on Tuesday.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will return to former club Liverpool in the fourth round, one of several ties involving Premier League opposition throughout the draw. Other all-top-flight matches include Fulham against Crystal Palace, Bournemouth against Aston Villa, Sunderland against Brentford, and Everton against Newcastle United, giving the round a strong top-division presence.

League One clubs Bradford and Peterborough will meet after beating Leyton Orient and Barnsley respectively in the third round, setting up an all-League One clash between the two promotion hopefuls. Full details of every tie were confirmed in the BBC Sport Carabao Cup draw report.

Carabao Cup schedule and key October fixture dates

Carabao Cup fourth-round matches, including a possible City tie against Brighton, are scheduled for the week commencing 26 October. No exact kick-off times or broadcast details have been confirmed beyond that fixture week. Supporters will need to wait for official scheduling before travel or viewing plans can be finalised
