City are reportedly among the clubs keeping tabs on Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite as interest continues to build around the England international.
TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey reports that City are tracking the 24-year-old alongside Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, while Manchester United have made fresh contact with the player’s camp. Everton are said to value Branthwaite at around £80m.
United’s interest is nothing new after they made two bids for the centre-back in 2024, but City’s name appearing alongside two of Spain’s biggest clubs gives Everton another indication of the company now watching one of their most valuable players.
City have been linked with Branthwaite before, with reports in June also suggesting they were monitoring him. For now, however, that appears to be as far as it goes.
There is no suggestion in the latest report that City have made an offer, opened negotiations with Everton or even decided to pursue a deal. Branthwaite is also tied to the Toffees until 2030 after signing a new five-year contract last year, leaving his club in a strong position should that interest eventually become more serious.
At the moment, then, this belongs firmly in the one-to-watch pile rather than the imminent-transfer pile.
But City, United, Real Madrid and Atletico are not a bad collection of admirers to have.
