# Man City News & Talking Points: £458m rebuild, Ndiaye, Allan and Aït-Nouri

**It hasn’t exactly been a quiet day at [City](https://readmancity.com/).**

Deadline Day may be over, but there has been plenty to pick through after one of the most extraordinary transfer windows the club – or indeed the Premier League – has seen.

We’ve had the final numbers, details of an £80m move that didn’t happen, a late approach from Manchester United and a first look at one of City’s new signings on the training pitch.

Here’s what has been happening on ReadManCity today.

## £458m spent – and more than £280m brought back in

Let’s start with the numbers.

According to Reuters, City spent around £458m during the summer window, a Premier League record.

That is an extraordinary amount of money by any measure.

But there is another side to it.

City also brought in more than £280m through player sales as Enzo Maresca’s squad underwent a huge overhaul.

Enzo Fernández, Elliot Anderson, [Ayyoub Bouaddi](https://readmancity.com/2026/08/27/man-city-tactical-evolution-crystal-palace-bouaddi/) and [Iliman Ndiaye](https://readeverton.com/iliman-ndiaye-everton-man-city-what-have-lost/) were among those arriving, while several established players headed in the opposite direction.

We took a closer look at [City’s £458m summer and the money they generated in sales](https://readmancity.com/2026/09/02/man-city-transfer-spending-458m-maresca-rebuild/).

Expensive? Certainly.

But this was no ordinary summer.

## Every City deal in one place

And if you’re struggling to remember exactly who came and went, you’re probably not alone.

There were a lot of them.

Fernández arrived from Chelsea for £125m, Anderson cost £116m from Nottingham Forest, Bouaddi joined from Lille for around £86m and Ndiaye arrived from Everton for an initial £60m.

There was plenty of movement in the other direction too.

We’ve now turned our live transfer tracker into a [definitive record of every City signing, sale and loan from the summer window](https://readmancity.com/2026/09/02/man-city-2026-summer-transfer-tracker-every-deal-live/).

It’s quite a list.

## Gakpo was the £80m target before Ndiaye

Ndiaye was one of the biggest arrivals on Deadline Day.

But he wasn’t City’s first choice.

Sky Sports revealed that Liverpool rejected an £80m offer for Cody Gakpo after deciding they wouldn’t have enough time to find a replacement.

City then turned their attention to Ndiaye.

Tottenham had already held advanced talks over the Senegal international, but City moved quickly and eventually agreed a £60m deal with Everton, with another £5m potentially due in add-ons.

[City had an £80m Gakpo bid rejected before turning to Ndiaye](https://readmancity.com/2026/09/02/man-city-cody-gakpo-80m-bid-iliman-ndiaye/).

Liverpool said no. City moved on.

## United came calling for Aït-Nouri

There was another Deadline Day move that didn’t happen.

Manchester United made a late approach for Rayan Aït-Nouri as they looked to strengthen at left-back.

United wanted a loan.

City were prepared to discuss one, but only if it contained an obligation to buy the Algeria international next summer.

United didn’t want that commitment and the talks went no further.

So Aït-Nouri remains at the Etihad.

[City rejected United’s late approach for Aït-Nouri](https://readmancity.com/2026/09/02/rayan-ait-nouri-man-utd-man-city-deadline-day/), leaving him to fight for his place in Maresca’s side.

## Doku remains City’s main injury absentee

Football, thankfully, is about to take over again.

Coventry visit the Etihad on Saturday and the injury picture isn’t too bad.

Jérémy Doku remains sidelined by the calf problem he suffered in the [Community Shield](https://readmancity.com/2026/08/18/man-city-simon-jordan-maresca-community-shield/), while Matheus Nunes is still working his way back towards full fitness.

There is better news over Elliot Anderson.

His problem against Bournemouth was only cramp and he returned to start the 4-1 victory at Crystal Palace.

Our [City injury and fitness tracker](https://readmancity.com/2026/09/02/man-city-injury-fitness-tracker-2026-27/) has been updated ahead of Saturday.

## Ndiaye could tempt FPL managers

Something a little lighter.

Fantasy Premier League has added City’s new arrivals to the game, with Ndiaye priced at £6.0m.

That’s the same price he was at Everton.

What has changed is the competition for his place.

Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden, Antoine Semenyo, Doku and Allan are among Maresca’s attacking options.

And Haaland is unlikely to be surrendering penalty duties any time soon.

At £6.0m, though, [Ndiaye could become an interesting FPL option if he earns regular minutes](https://readmancity.com/2026/09/02/iliman-ndiaye-fpl-price-man-city/).

## Allan gets down to work

And finally, we got our first proper look at Allan as a City player.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has taken part in his first training session following his move from Palmeiras.

He’s left-footed, predominantly operates from the right and arrives with a reputation for wanting the ball and taking defenders on.

Where exactly he fits into Maresca’s attacking options remains to be seen.

But after weeks of transfer talk, negotiations, fees and medicals, we can finally get on with the interesting bit.

[Allan is a City player and he’s out on the grass](https://readmancity.com/2026/09/02/allan-man-city-training-palmeiras-signing/).

Now we get to find out what he can do.
