# Man City news & talking points: Fernandez bid, Gakpo interest & €40m Allan deal

- Manchester City are reportedly preparing a formal bid for Enzo Fernandez.
- A €40m agreement has been reached with Palmeiras for winger Allan.
- Cody Gakpo, Natan and another outgoing transfer also feature tonight.

**[Enzo Fernandez](https://readmancity.com/2026/08/19/man-city-enzo-fernandez-120m-chelsea-transfer-stance/) is back at the centre of City’s transfer plans, while Allan moves closer to the Etihad and Cody Gakpo and Natan emerge among Enzo Maresca’s options.**

With the deadline approaching, City’s rebuild shows little sign of slowing down.

## City ready Fernandez bid

The long-running Enzo Fernandez story may finally be heading towards a formal offer.

Fabrizio Romano reports that City intend to submit a bid for the Chelsea midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Fernandez is also said to have “opened doors” to the move.

Chelsea previously wanted £120million and City allowed an earlier deadline to pass without bidding, but their interest never disappeared.

Now Chelsea’s resolve could finally be tested.

## Allan deal agreed

One deal considerably further down the road is Allan.

City have reached a verbal agreement with Palmeiras for the Brazilian winger, with Fabrizio Romano giving the transfer his familiar “here we go”.

The fee is reported to be €40m (£34m) plus add-ons, with documents being exchanged between the clubs.

Allan will give Maresca another attacking option as City’s forward line undergoes considerable change.

## Gakpo joins attacking shortlist

Allan may not be the end of City’s work in attack.

Sky Sports reports that Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo is also of interest, although there have been no talks between the clubs and Liverpool do not currently want to sell.

That makes this a difficult deal rather than one which appears close.

But with Savinho heading towards Tottenham and Omar Marmoush’s future also uncertain, City’s interest in another established forward is worth noting.

## Natan linked after Maresca request

There could yet be defensive business as well.

Real Betis centre-back Natan has reportedly moved high on City’s shortlist following a request from Maresca.

Ekrem Konur claims Betis want around €40m for the Brazilian, although Spanish reporting has previously placed his valuation closer to €30m.

There is no indication that City have submitted a formal offer, so this remains one to treat with some caution.

## Neville writes off City’s title chances

Gary Neville has already seen enough to question City’s Premier League title credentials.

The former Manchester United defender believes Maresca’s side are “well below” the level required to challenge Arsenal and identified Rodri’s departure as a major problem.

City did at least begin the league season with three points against Bournemouth.

Whether Neville’s assessment looks perceptive or premature will take rather longer than one weekend to establish.

## Kaboré heading for Wrexham

Finally, Issa Kaboré appears set to bring his unusual Manchester City career to an end.

Wrexham have reportedly agreed a £2m fee for the Burkina Faso international, who is now due to undergo a medical.

Kaboré joined City from KV Mechelen in 2020 but never made a competitive senior appearance for the club, instead spending six successive spells out on loan.

His most recent was at Wrexham, and that move now looks set to become permanent.
