# Today’s Man City news round-up & talking points — Wednesday 22nd July

**Five Man City news stories today, with the Bouaddi deal and Phil Foden’s situation both getting proper follow-up treatment.**

Here’s everything, and what it adds up to.

### Warhurst completes academy exit

The day started with [Matty Warhurst’s permanent move to Northampton Town](https://readmancity.com/2026/07/22/man-city-warhurst-northampton-academy-exit/), a modest £100,000 deal with a sell-on clause built in — the latest academy graduate to leave in search of senior football.

### Bouaddi’s personal terms confirmed

[City have agreed personal terms with Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi](https://readmancity.com/2026/07/22/man-city-bouaddi-personal-terms-lille-agreement/), with the 18-year-old accepting a contract to June 2031. Talks with Lille over a fee, believed to be around £85m, are now underway.

### Tracker refreshed

The [summer transfer tracker](https://readmancity.com/2026/07/22/man-city-2026-summer-transfer-tracker-every-deal-live/) was updated to reflect the Bouaddi progress, alongside Rodri’s continued contract rejection and Phil Foden’s situation.

### Foden’s role under scrutiny

Two separate pieces looked at Phil Foden’s situation from different angles today: one on [what his role under Enzo Maresca might look like](https://readmancity.com/2026/07/22/phil-foden-role-enzo-maresca-manchester-city/) this season, and a follow-up on [what his new contract says about City’s plans for the future](https://readmancity.com/2026/07/22/phil-foden-new-contract-manchester-city-future-plans/), following breaking news of him signing a [fresh deal](https://www.mancity.com/news/mens/phil-foden-new-manchester-city-contract-63920315/?utm_source=x&utm_medium=organic_social).

### The attacking picture examined

Finally, a wider look at [City’s search for attacking reinforcements](https://readmancity.com/2026/07/22/man-city-winger-search-savinho-yan-diomande/), weighing up the Savinho exit against genuine interest in Yan Diomande as City reshape their options out wide.

### What it adds up to

Today reads as a genuine follow-through day rather than fresh headlines — Bouaddi’s progress builds on yesterday’s reporting, and the two Foden pieces suggest City’s plans for him were becoming clearer even before any contract was signed.

Combined with the ongoing wide-attacking rebuild, it’s a squad picture that’s steadily taking shape under Maresca.
