# Man City fans will enjoy this weekend’s Opta Supercomputer prediction

- Opta Supercomputer predicts Man City vs Aston Villa
- Highlights Citizens’ home record against visitors
- Anticipates revenge after Villa Park defeat last year

**The Opta Supercomputer has rated Manchester City’s chances of beating Aston Villa, after a week of lows for the hosts, but highs for the visiting team.**

Three points would not be enough for Manchester City to compensate for Tuesday night’s result. However, ending the season on a high is the goal.

With [Pep Guardiola leaving](https://readmancity.com/2026/05/22/pep-guardiola-wants-proper-goodbye-after-man-citys-match-against-aston-villa/) this summer, the match on Sunday will be a special occasion, and coming out on top would be nice.

It is certainly a fitting way to end a campaign which has seen the Sky Blues win two domestic trophies at Wembley.

## Opta Supercomputer predicts Man City victory

While Man City failed to defeat Bournemouth in midweek, Aston Villa comfortably beat Freiburg in the Europa League final.

Despite this, the [Opta Supercomputer](https://theanalyst.com/articles/opta-football-predictions) has handed City a 72 per cent chance of defeating their next opponent.

Villa’s likelihood of a win stands at 11 per cent, which is a lower figure than any other Premier League team playing on Sunday.

## Man City’s home form highlighted

Other than a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest in March, it is hard to remember a Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium where Man City failed to impress.

Indeed, City have only been beaten once at home in the top flight, and that all the way back in August against Tottenham Hotspur.

In addition to this, the Citizens have won 10 home matches in a row against Aston Villa, a run they will look to continue.

## City have the advantage when it comes to rest

For once, Man City are actually the team who will be better rested ahead of one of their matches.

This has not been the case for some time, with fixtures to fulfil left, right and centre having been common in recent weeks.

Whereas Villa have been abroad for the Europa League final, which took place on Wednesday night. And since they won, the celebrations have likely lasted much longer.
