# Marc Guehi admits he is ‘lucky’ to represent Manchester City in FA Cup final

- Happy to play two successive finals

**Manchester City have reached the FA Cup final, and Marc Guehi has shared how grateful he is to be back in this position.**

Marc Guehi wore the captain’s armband for Crystal Palace in last year’s FA Cup final, and he is going to line up again at Wembley this time around.

The defender knew that moving to Man City would see him play in matches like this more often, but there was no guarantee it would happen so soon.

However, Guehi already has a shot to win the FA Cup for a second consecutive campaign. The only requirement is to beat Chelsea.

## Marc Guehi feels lucky to be in another FA Cup final

Because Guehi only signed for Man City at the end of the mid-season transfer window, he was unable to play in the Carabao Cup final.

Despite this, the England international will take to the Wembley turf on Saturday with the goal of adding another FA Cup triumph to his personal record.

Asked by Joe Hart about how he felt to be playing in another FA Cup final, Guehi told [TNT Sports](https://x.com/footballontnt/status/2054866455720563186): “Yeah, I look at that and think, how lucky am I? To be honest, people don’t realise, you don’t get these opportunities often.”

Addressing last year’s final, he added: “To have gone and won it the first time with an incredible group. Yeah, team performance, every single person involved. The obvious 12th man out there, the fans were unreal, like anything I’ve ever seen.

“A game like that against a team like Manchester City with the players that they had and unforgettable moments, and I’m just so happy for the football club that they could achieve that.

“And like I said, to be in that position again, I’m grateful. It’s \[a\] different position in a way. You’re thinking about it differently,” Guehi continued.

“But you know at heart, still wanting to go and win it. Still wanting to achieve something surmountable again.”

## Another clean sheet is the goal for Guehi

Man City dominated last season’s FA Cup final, maintaining 78 per cent of the possession and creating three big chances.

They recorded 2.23 xG compared with Palace’s 0.74, but it was the Eagles who managed to snatch the win.

Guehi was forced off after an hour, but played his part in securing his team a clean sheet, helping them to win the competition.

If he can do that again on Saturday, all City will need is a single goal to claim their second trophy of the season.

## Guehi should get used to competing in finals

According to Guehi, opportunities to play in the finals of cup competitions do not come around too often.

However, since 2020 Man City have played in eight cup finals, excluding the Community Shield and UEFA Super League.

This has become the norm for a team full of proven winners, and Guehi can expect to experience this feeling many times during his career.

Still, it is important to make the most of these chances, as they should not be taken for granted. It is nice to be in a final, but winning them is the only thing that matters.
