# Fabrizio Romano sets the record straight on Tino Livramento’s rumoured Manchester City move

**Tino Livramento has been heavily linked with Manchester City, but transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has spoken out to contradict previous reports.**

Manchester City are in the market for a new right-back and it was recently claimed that the club were willing to [pay £70m to sign Tino Livramento](https://readmancity.com/2026/03/02/manchester-city-could-smash-transfer-record-to-sign-70m-rated-defender/).

More recently, one ex-chief executive described [Livramento’s move to Man City as ‘nailed on’](https://readmancity.com/2026/03/09/tino-livramentos-manchester-city-move-nailed-on-reports-former-chief-executive/), meaning it is as good as confirmed.

This would see Man City’s right-back issues resolved, as Matheus Nunes is currently the only available option in the position.

## Tino Livramento is not close to joining Manchester City

Despite these earlier reports, Livramento is not actually close to signing for Man City, according to [Fabrizio Romano](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X0t46QPdHw).

Pep Guardiola’s team wanted the Englishman a year ago, but there have since been no fresh or concrete transfer talks between themselves and Newcastle.

However, Man City are still expected to sign a right-back this summer. There is just no guarantee it will be Livramento.

## Man City may be dodging a bullet by not signing Livramento

While Livramento is a quality player, he does have a tendency to get injured on a fairly regular basis, which is concerning for a team who want a reliable defender.

The 23-year-old spent a year on the sidelines after a cruciate ligament tear in April 2022 and he has already suffered three separate injuries this season.

It is all well and good having a player with technical ability, but if he is rarely available to play, there is little point in having him in the squad.
