Hoffenheim youngster Ilay Elmkies linked with City move

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to sign Hoffenheim youngster Ilay Elmkies, with reports in Germany claiming he is on the club’s radar.

According to Sport Bild, Guardiola is a huger admirer of the player who is very highly thought of in Germany.

Elmkies has been impressing for Hoffenheim’s U19 side, particularly against Manchester City themselves in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday afternoon, scoring in a 5-2 win for the Bundesliga side.

The report describes the 18-year-old midfielder as a ‘technically good’ player that does not mind the defensive side of the game either.

Elmkies is considered the perfect mould of player for Guardiola, who is looking to strengthen his squad.

The reports emerge as the two senior sides prepare to meet in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Manchester City are in Germany this week for the second game of the group, looking to make up for their poor result against Lyon last time around.
