City loan Roberts to La Liga side Girona
Manchester City starlet Patrick Roberts has joined La Liga outfit Girona on a season-long loan.
The 21-year old winger, who signed for City from Fulham in 2015, has spent the last two-and-a-half years on loan with Scottish champions Celtic.
Roberts joined Celtic on an 18-month loan in January 2016, winning the Scottish Premier League in his first six months with the club.
The following season, Roberts defended the SPL title, also winning the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup.
Upon the expiration of his original loan deal, City extended Roberts’ stay in Glasgow by a further year, where he once again won the domestic treble – becoming a key member of the first team ever to win back-to-back Scottish trebles.
Rumours had linked Roberts with yet another loan spell to Parkhead this summer, but instead the defending Premier League champions have chosen Girona as his next destination.
Girona, who finished 10th in La Liga last season, are owned by City’s parent holding company City Football Group (CFG), and Roberts will link up with another of City’s talented starlets Aleix Garcia in Catalonia.
