It’s been a fantastic season for Manchester City as they’ve lifted the Premier League and Carabao Cup double.
After finishing his first season at the Etihad empty-handed, Pep Guardiola will be delighted to continue his record of winning trophies everywhere he has managed.
City have been particularly irresistible in the league, brushing aside everyone that has come before them with their sweeping attacks and clinical finishing that are the envy of world football.
It is a team full of so many superstars, such as Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and David Silva, but also one that works hard for each other and knows how to use the ‘dark arts’ when needed.
Perhaps the only disappointment for the Blues was their defeat over two legs to Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals, although their north-west rivals have now gone on to reach the final of the competition.
Guardiola will be keen to improve their European fortunes next campaign and looks set to be entrusted with another considerable war chest to do just that this summer.
Along the way, City have broken and equalled a number of records in this campaign. Here’s a look at them…
Consecutive Premier League Wins - 18
City broke this record by a comfortable margin, with the previous record for consecutive wins in a single season set at 13 by Chelsea last season.
The run started with Raheem Sterling’s stoppage-time winner at Bournemouth in August and ended on the last day of 2017 with a draw against Crystal Palace.
Most Passes in a Premier League Match - 902
City are a team known for their passing capabilities and duly delivered by breaking this record twice this season. The Blues initially posted a figure of 843 against West Brom in October.
Then, against then PL Champs Chelsea in March, City completed 902 passes as they won 1-0.
Most goals scored in a PL Season - 105
Everyone knows City score goals in abundance, and that they come from all over the pitch. Last night’s 3-1 victory took the tally to 105, surpassing Chelsea’s 103 in 2009/10.
Coincidentally, City have had 12 different League scorers this season, and the list is topped by Sergio Aguero with 21.
Most Wins in a PL Season - 31
Another record City have beaten that was set by Antonio Conte’s Chelsea last season. Last night’s victory was their 31st, edging them one past the West Londoners.
The gap could stretch to two on Sunday, should the Champions prevail against Southampton.
Most Points - 97
Pretty self-explanatory but nonetheless very impressive. The previous record was set at 95 by Chelsea in Jose Mourinho’s first season at the Bridge, 2004-05
A win on the South Coast would see City become the first team to break through the 100 point barrier.
Equalled: Title won with matches to play - 5
The first mention of bitter rivals Manchester United in this slideshow. United set the record at five during the 2000/01 season after beating Coventry City at Old Trafford.
City achieved the same feat last month, and it was United who sealed it by losing by a Jay Rodriguez goal to nil against now relegated West Brom.
Equalled: Most Away Wins - 15
This is another record that City could hold outright come five o’clock on Sunday. The Blues have so far won everywhere apart from Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Burnley.
It’s Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea who also won 15 in a single campaign, again happening in 2004/05.
