Man City Predicted XI: Feyenoord (A)
Manchester City begin their 2017-18 Champions League campaign tomorrow night when they take on Dutch champions Feyenoord at De Kuip.
The visitors will be looking to get off to winning ways after a disappointing exit to Monaco in the last 16 in February. Despite scoring the same amount of goals as their opponents, City were defeated by the away goals rule and crashed out of a competition that many were predicting they would get far in.
This time round, Guardiola and his men will want to prove that they can compete with the best in Europe, starting with tomorrow’s match in Amsterdam. Feyenoord will not be an easy team to beat, considering they are Eredivisie champions and will face a raucous atmosphere from the home fans. A positive for City is that leading goalscorer Nicolai Jorgensen is ruled out with a hamstring injury, which will leave the home side short on goals. With Napoli facing Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, City will want to get off to a good start before they face the Italian side, who boast lethal finishing and world-class ability.
This will be the first time that the Citizens play the Dutch side in a European competition. Feyenoord boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has recently stated in a press conference that their opponents can win the Champions League this season and states that they are one of the best teams in the world.
Here’s how we expect Pep Guardiola to set out his team for the game.
