# Monday night football: Everton visit the Etihad.

Over the past couple of days I have covered with the build up to Manchester City’s first [Premier League](https://www.readpl.com/) game, for the season, at the Etihad. Saturday I gave you some of the [history of the fixture, results and players both clubs have shared](https://readmancity.com/2017/08/19/etihad-opener-city-entertain-sticky-toffees/).

Yesterday I dealt with the two ex [Barcelona](https://www.readlaliga.com/) team mates, who won so much together as players. [Ronald Koeman and his student, Pep Guardiola](https://readmancity.com/2017/08/20/prodical-sons-clash-at-the-etihad/), now both put their interpretations of Johan Cruyffs ‘total football’ into the Premiership.

Today, though, I turn our attention to the build up of the actual game. How will they line up? How will Pep deal with Koeman’s [Everton](https://www.readeverton.com/)? Will Guardiola start off with a home victory, and be two for two when the final whistle sounds? Will Koeman‘s men, with ex United striker Rooney, spoil the party.

I will look at key points of the game as we await kickoff.
