Stones looking for quick City move

John Stones has made it clear to new Everton manager Ronald Koeman that he wants to join Manchester City in time to start their pre-season campaign, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The 22-year-old has been a target for City since Pep Guardiola’s arrival and the Sky Blues have been quoted £50m for one of England’s finest talents.

With Guardiola reluctant to pay such a large sum, Stones has asked to leave the club, stating that he wants to begin pre-season at Etihad.

City face the likes of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester United in their tough preparations for the 2016/17 season.

Stones was subject of three bids from Premier League rivals Chelsea last summer, all of which were rejected. The biggest of the three was in the region of £38m.

The Englishman endured a tough term and was dropped from the starting line-up at the Goodison Park midway through the season.
