In Pictures: City’s Champions League dream comes to an end

Manchester City’s Champions League dream came to an end at the Bernabeu as an own goal from Fernando knocked the Blues out of the tournament.

City lost Vincent Kompany through an early injury and though they defended sufficiently, it was in attack where they lacked invention and fight – alarmingly surprising for a game of this magnitude.

While it was a great achievement to reach this stage of the competition, the vast majority of City fans can’t see many positives as the team went out with a whimper.
