# Gundogan closing in on City switch

[Manchester City](https://readmancity.com/) are set to finalise a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan at the end of the season.

According to the [Mail Online](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3546321/Manchester-City-expected-finalise-23m-Ilkay-Gundogan-transfer-Germany-international-offered-five-year-deal.html), City are set to secure the midfielder’s services after he turned down interest from the likes of [Arsenal](https://readarsenal.com/), [Juventus](https://readseriea.com/), and [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/).

The midfielder’s agent, Ilhan Gundogan – who is also his uncle – met with City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain in the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam, prior to holding a meeting with soon to be City boss, Pep Guardiola.

A deal for the 25-year-old will set City back £23m according to reports, as they put a five-year contract on the table for the Germany international.

The Bayern Munich boss has played down speculation linking him with a move for Gundogan as he tries to remain focused on his duties with the Bundesliga champions ahead of his departure at the end of the season.

When asked about a possible deal, Guardiola simply replied:

> I am the coach of Bayern Munich.
