Combined XI: Manchester City and Manchester United

Despite the deficiencies of both Manchester City and Manchester United this season, the Manchester derby remains a hugely important fixture and that will no doubt continue on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

A key part in the derby build-up is often the endless discussions about opposition players and who would and would not get into each team.

For a number of years, City were lucky to have one player who would fit into the United side but things have changed and it’s now City who probably edge it in terms of the quality of players at the club.

It’s one that’s open for debate but I’ve had a go at putting together a combined City and United eleven, with injuries, form and overall ability taken into account.

Injured United man Wayne Rooney doesn’t get a look-in while some of City’s injured stars still earn a place in the side.
