Top 5 Kevin De Bruyne goals

Kevin De Bruyne is finally a blue and already City fans are hugely excited to see the Belgian in action. Strangely, the international break is not a timely one for City, who were in a rich vein of form. It also means City supporters will have a slightly longer wait to see their new man in the flesh.

But anyway, to pass that time, we’ve picked out five of De Bruyne’s best goals to get the City faithful really in the mood for when the 24-year old does make his much-anticipated debut in sky blue colours.

5.

STUTTGART (2012/13 SEASON)

We start off with a goal that De Bruyne scored in his fruitful loan at Werder Bremen in 2012/13. This goal is one that I like a lot. He pops up in that No.10 position and combines wonderfully with his frontman, crafting a one-two before finishing superbly at the near post with his supposedly weaker foot.

The awareness in this attacking play is excellent and we can only imagine how De Bruyne will link-up with a certain Sergio Aguero.

DORTMUND (2014/15 SEASON)

Another goal I’m quite a fan of his goal in the DFB Pokal final against Dortmund at the end of last season.

With the scores at 1-1, De Bruyne latched on to a set-up from target man Bas Dost and fired in a low shot that fizzed under Roman Weidenfeller. Clearly, compared to other strikes, this was not the most entertaining or enjoyable the player has scored, but the fact he turned it on in a big game is enough for this one to make the cut.

MALAYSIA XI (2013/14 PRE-SEASON)

As we know, De Bruyne’s Chelsea stint was quite a forgettable one and we shouldn’t really judge him on his short stay in England.

However it was with Chelsea where De Bruyne scored a cracking goal in pre-season against a Malaysian XI. Again, De Bruyne demonstrated his knack of ‘playing off’ a striker by latching on to Lukaku’s flick on and giving it a good old wallop’ past the Malaysian rookie.

2.

BAYERN (2014/15)

Now we’re getting onto the top-tier of KDB goals and this one is a gem of a strike.

Not least is it against the mighty Bavarian powerhouses Bayern Munich in a thumping 4-1 win, but the goal itself is quite brilliant and evidently highlights the strong qualities De Bruyne has in his locker.

With a goal already on the ball, De Bruyne ends up in a foot-race with Dante, incidentally now a recent signing for Wolfsburg – De Bruyne’s ex employers. The 24-year old makes Dante look like a complete slouch and completely torments the Brazilian.

He shifts the ball onto his left foot and sweeps home past the giant frame known more commonly as Manuel Neuer. It’s an incredible piece of play and is something we could well see De Bruyne do in a City shirt.

1.

LILLE (2014/15)

Finally, we’ve got to No.1 and I’ve got no doubts that this is the best goal De Bruyne has scored to date.

This is a strike which screams individual quality and is a one of a kind goal.

In the Europa League match with Lille, from a corner the ball dropped to the Belgian on the edge of the box and he produced the sweetest, yet most thunderous strike to level matters.

He caught it so well that it flew perfectly into the top corner. One can only hope that De Bruyne takes up a similar position when City have a corner in their favour.
