After months of being on the trail for Yaya Toure, Internazionale may now be targeting another City player – Stevan Jovetic – as they draw up a list of targets for the coming transfer window. They had been linked with a move for the Montenegrin previously, but nothing ever came of it.
Gazzette dello Sport believe that Inter now want to sign Jovetic having failed in pursuits for other targets. They were supposedly in for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund and had been interested for some time, before being put off by the Bundesliga side’s asking price of £29 million.
Now, GdS believes there is some chance Jovetic could make the move back to Serie A following two years in England, although rather than the deal being an outright purchase it’d be a loan first and foremost, with an opportunity for the Italian side to make it permanent should he succeed.
Despite Jovetic’s agent recently saying that his client was happy at Eastlands (although he did hint that the Montenegrin could leave this summer), after two difficult years in England it is thought he is interested in the project being started under Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan, and he would prefer a return to Serie A over anywhere else.
