Rayan Cherki’s flying Man City start reportedly catches eye of three European giants

Rayan Cherki is reportedly attracting attention from three of Europe’s biggest clubs following his flying start to the season with City.

According to CaughtOffside, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all monitoring the City playmaker ahead of the January transfer window.

There have been no formal bids and, at this stage, there is no suggestion that City are considering selling the 23-year-old.

The reported interest is perhaps more notable as an indication of how quickly Cherki’s reputation is growing.

Cherki making an early impression

The France international has started the new campaign in outstanding form.

Cherki came off the bench to provide two assists as City recovered to beat Bournemouth 2-1 on the opening weekend before scoring twice in Friday night’s 4-1 victory at Crystal Palace.

Four direct goal contributions in two league appearances have quickly put him at the heart of Enzo Maresca‘s new-look side.

And his performances appear to have been noticed elsewhere.

CaughtOffside reports that Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern all have Cherki on their respective shortlists, with sources valuing the player at around €90million.

City, however, are in a strong position.

Cherki is under contract until 2030 and has already shown why the club brought him to the Etihad from Lyon last year.

January is also four months away and there is nothing in the report to suggest a move is currently being discussed.

For now, this looks less like the beginning of a transfer saga and more like confirmation of Cherki’s growing reputation across Europe.

If he continues producing performances like those against Bournemouth and Palace, City supporters can probably expect plenty more speculation to follow.
