Man City submit £120m-plus Enzo Fernández bid as Chelsea decision awaits

City have reportedly submitted an official bid worth more than £120million for Enzo Fernández as they attempt to complete a huge Deadline Day move for the Chelsea midfielder.

Fabrizio Romano reports that City have now made their formal offer, with Chelsea having previously indicated that a figure of around £120m would be required before they would consider selling the Argentina international.

Fernández is understood to be ready to make the move and could undergo a medical quickly if the two clubs reach an agreement.

The player and his representatives are prepared for that possibility, leaving the negotiations between City and Chelsea as the key remaining issue.

City waiting as Fernández talks continue

There are conflicting reports over Chelsea’s response to the offer.

talkSPORT has reported that City’s bid has been rejected, but other leading sources continue to describe negotiations as ongoing.

Sky Sports reports that Chelsea are working on a deal for Roma midfielder Manu Koné, who has been identified as a potential replacement for Fernández.

That could prove significant to City’s chances of getting the deal over the line before the window closes.

Nicolò Schira had earlier gone further by claiming that Fernández’s move to City was already agreed for €130m, but that has not been confirmed by either club and subsequent reporting suggests negotiations are continuing.

The clearest development, therefore, is that City have now made their move.

A bid worth more than £120m is on the table, Fernández is reportedly ready to join and Chelsea’s midfield business could yet have a major bearing on what happens next.

With the situation developing rapidly, an agreement has not yet been confirmed.
