The remarkable numbers behind Haaland’s Palace record

Erling Haaland continued his remarkable record against Crystal Palace with another two goals in Manchester City’s 4-1 victory at Selhurst Park.

The Norwegian opened the scoring after 17 minutes before adding his second late on as City made it two Premier League wins from two under Enzo Maresca.

For Palace, there must have been a familiar feeling when Haaland found the net.

Haaland has scored every time he has faced Palace

Friday night’s double took Haaland to 10 goals in just six Premier League appearances against the Eagles.

Even more remarkably, he has scored in every one of those six games.

His Palace record began with a hat-trick in August 2022, when City came from 2-0 down to win 4-2 at the Etihad.

He has not stopped since.

Five subsequent visits to Selhurst Park have produced seven more goals, including braces on each of his last two trips.

That gives Haaland an average of 1.67 goals per Premier League appearance against Palace.

There is another striking number from Friday night.

Haaland now has 24 Premier League goals in only 16 appearances during August. Only Andrew Cole, with 25 in 44 appearances, has scored more in the competition during the month.

Haaland drew a blank against Bournemouth on the opening weekend.

One game later, normal service has resumed.
