Savio & Marmoush To Spurs Could See Late City Splurge

It has been a summer of change at Manchester City and the Etihad Stadium revolving door has been propped open ever since former manager Pep Guardiola began the big first team rebuild last season. This has continued with Enzo Maresca now in charge of the dug out, and city fans up and down the country have seen another plethora of big money moves coming both in, and out, of the club since the summer transfer window opened.

We are also somewhat surprisingly doing quite a bit of business with Tottenham Hotspur and Roberto De Zerbi so far this summer. The long anticipated transfer of Savinho to the White Hart Lane Stadium finally went through earlier this week and goes down on the books as an £85 million deal, and it only took a day or two for the expected second bit of business to go through, which saw Omar Marmoush join him for the claimed princely sum of £60 million.

For regulars on the speculation rumour mill this last month, both of these deals seemed to be well known about and the odds on them happening on Asian handicap betting sites would have fallen as they were well covered, and seemingly very much agreed long before they were actually officially announced given all the parties appeared to be perfectly on the same page with each other.

There was also some typical internet sleuthing and conspiracies thrown up in our direction given the fees involved for both players, and how it seems that the transfers were structured.

With 22 year old, 13 capped Brazilian international winger Savinho, signing a new long term contract at the club, as he also changed his name back to Savio, 27 year old, 55 capped Egyptian international striker Marmoush initially moves on a loan spell for the remainder of the current campaign, but the permanent deal clause is an obligation that will come into play next summer when the current campaign comes to an end.

With the big money, headline, signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest during the summer, we have also added Pierce Charles, Jeremy Monga, Geronimo Rulli, Mathys Detourbet and latterly the very interesting capture of Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, there is an expectation that there will be at least one, if not two, more through the doors before we hit Deadline Day and September’s window closure until the curtain comes back up in January and the New Year.

With the Savio cash now in our pocket and budget, and being able to fully account for the Marmoush money, we could now see one or two pieces of significant business progress quite quickly over the weekend.

There are plenty of rumour left floating around right now, we will just simply have to see if any of them are accurate with a grain of truth.
