Enzo Fernandez has again asked Chelsea to allow him to join Man City, according to transfer reporter Nicolò Schira.
Schira claims the Argentina midfielder is pushing to leave Stamford Bridge and has asked to be sold to City.
He also reports that Fernandez has agreed personal terms on a contract until 2032, with City said to be confident of reaching a Enzo Fernandez asks Chelsea for Man City move as £111m claim emerges agreement with Chelsea.
There is no agreement between the clubs at this stage, and those details remain claims. However, City’s pursuit of Fernandez is now gathering pace with less than a week of the transfer window remaining.
Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that City are poised to make a late move for the 25-year-old, while talkSPORT says an offer is being prepared.
Chelsea hold key to Fernandez deal
Chelsea’s position remains the major obstacle.
They previously valued Fernandez at £120m and set City a deadline earlier this month to meet that figure. No offer arrived before the cut-off, but City have maintained their interest.
The latest claim from Schira suggests Fernandez is now applying some pressure from his side, although Chelsea are under no obligation to sell one of their leading midfielders to a Premier League rival.
City’s interest is easier to understand. Enzo Maresca worked with Fernandez at Stamford Bridge and the club have been reshaping their midfield following Rodri’s departure this summer.
There is still some distance between interest and a completed transfer, particularly with Schira’s €130m figure yet to be independently confirmed.
But with City preparing a late move and Fernandez reportedly keen on it, this is a deal that could dominate the final days of the window.
