Rodri has completed his medical at Barcelona, moving his €76.5m move from City to the final stage before he’s confirmed as a Barcelona player.
The Spanish World Cup winner arrived in Barcelona on Monday and is now attending media duties ahead of signing a contract running until 2030. The fee breaks down as a €60m fixed sum for City, with the remainder made up of add-ons.
Barcelona are targeting a presentation as early as Wednesday, potentially at the Joan Gamper Trophy against Al Ahly, which would give Rodri several days to settle before Barcelona’s La Liga opener against Elche on August 23.
He’d become the club’s fourth major summer signing, following Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and João Cancelo’s return.
Rodri leaves City after seven trophy-laden seasons, including four Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League, and having only just returned to training following back surgery after the World Cup.
Speaking at the airport on arrival, he called the move “a dream come true.”
City are already working on midfield reinforcements, with Enzo Fernandez among the names being considered as a replacement.
