Man City make fresh Malo Gusto contact as Chelsea talks continue

City have reportedly made fresh contact with Chelsea over Malo Gusto as Enzo Maresca continues to look at options to strengthen his squad.

Transfer journalist Graeme Bailey reports that City have approached Chelsea again over the France international, who has been on their radar during the summer window.

The development suggests City’s interest remains active despite Chelsea previously placing a substantial valuation on the 23-year-old.

ReadManCity reported earlier this month that City were unwilling to meet a £75m asking price for Gusto, leaving the clubs some distance apart over a possible deal.

City retain interest in Chelsea trio

Gusto is not the only Chelsea player still attracting City’s attention.

Bailey reports that City retain an interest in midfielder Enzo Fernández, despite Chelsea’s insistence last week that they would not sanction his departure after their deadline for a £120m deal passed.

Pedro Neto also remains under consideration.

The Portugal winger’s situation has developed quickly, however, with Al-Hilal now in direct talks over a move. Reports over the weekend claimed Neto had agreed personal terms with the Saudi club, although Chelsea would still need to agree a fee.

For City, the significant development is the renewed approach for Gusto.

Their previous reluctance to meet Chelsea’s valuation means the next question is whether the London club are now prepared to negotiate on price — or whether City’s latest contact simply confirms that Gusto remains on their shortlist.
