Man City reject second Barcelona bid for Rodri

City have rejected a second bid from Barcelona for Rodri, according to Ben Jacobs.

The latest offer is understood to have been worth around €64.5m, but it has been turned down by City.

Barcelona have been interested in the Spain international for some time as they consider options for their midfield, but the latest development shows City are not prepared to accept the Catalan club’s current proposal.

Rodri remains under contract at City and is expected to be an important part of the squad under new manager Enzo Maresca.

The midfielder missed much of last season because of injury but has been working towards full fitness during pre-season.

Barcelona’s next move remains unclear, although their decision to make a second offer suggests they remain keen to reach an agreement.

For City, the rejection represents a firm response to Barcelona’s latest approach.

There is currently no indication that the clubs have agreed a fee, meaning any further negotiations would have to take place on City’s terms.

The reported €64.5m bid also falls short of the kind of figure that would be expected to make City seriously consider selling one of their most important midfielders.
