Manchester City player ratings vs Bournemouth

  • Man City’s title bid is over
  • Failed to beat Bournemouth
  • Players rated after disappointing night

Manchester City have failed to claim the necessary points to remain in the Premier League title race, meaning there will be no domestic treble this season.

We’ve rated every Man City player on a scale of 1-10 based on how they performed at the Vitality Stadium.

Gianluigi Donnarumma – 6

Unable to prevent Bournemouth from taking the lead, but in fairness, it would have taken an unbelievable save to deny Kroupi. Made a couple of saves in the second half.

Matheus Nunes – 6

Completed more dribbles than any other player, but his efforts were in vain.

Abdukodir Khusanov – 5

Failed to block Kroupi’s shot and once it left the forward’s foot, there was no way the goalkeeper was stopping it.

Marc Guehi – 5.5

Took the ball off Kroupi with a really good sliding challenge in the first half. However, Guehi did not make many defensive contributions throughout the match.

Nico O’Reilly – 5

Should have scored at the beginning of the second half, but struck a close range strike straight at Dorde Petrovic.

Rodri – 7.5

One of City’s better performers on the night, covering all areas of the pitch. Rodri was good in the air, defended well and had over 100 touches. The Spaniard hit the post in search of an equaliser just before Haaland scored.

Mateo Kovacic – 6

Helped out by fulfilling his defensive duties, but only won one of his four duels. Subbed before the hour mark.

Bernardo Silva – 5.5

The captain covered a lot of ground, but he did not do anything to change the course of the game. He too was removed after 56 minutes.

Antoine Semenyo – 6

Found the net early with a neat finish after a Haaland through ball, but the linesman made the correct call to raise his flag. It wasn’t a bad performance from Semenyo, but City fans would have hoped for more based on his recent contributions.

Jeremy Doku – 6

Landed a shot on goal after sending a Bournemouth defender the wrong way, but it was hit rather tamely at the keeper. Marked very tightly on the wing, limiting his space to operate.

Erling Haaland – 7

Was unlucky not to record an assist, but as is often the case, Haaland’s time on the ball was quite limited. Despite this, the striker did score at the end of the game with a very precise finish.

Substitutes

Phil Foden – 5

Unable to replicate the brilliance he showed against Crystal Palace.

Rayan Cherki  – 5

Other than having a shot blocked inside the box, it is hard to see what the Frenchman did when he came on.

Savinho – 6.5

Played a few decent passes and made a good run which could have led to a Man City winner.

Omar Marmoush – N/A

Played the final 15 minutes and hit the wall with a free kick in stoppage time.

Nothing to play for on Sunday

Man City’s second place finish in the Premier League is now confirmed, making Sunday’s match against Aston Villa a dead rubber for the hosts.

However, it could be Pep Guardiola’s final match in charge, so City will be doing what they can to end the campaign on a high note.
