Aguero won’t be 100% for World Cup, says doctor
Argentina’s football doctor Homero D’Agostino has admitted that it will be difficult for Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero to be 100% ready for the start of the World Cup, as reported by EN.
Aguero went under an Arthroscopy after sustaining an injury in the recent Manchester derby at the Etihad.
Earlier today the forward was named in the PFA team of the season in a fine season for the Argentine which has included 30 goals across all competitions.
The City forward has taken his game to a new level this season and has played a vital role in helping City get the title back to the Etihad this season and would be a huge miss for the country if he were to miss any games.
Argentina kick off their campaign on the 16th June against Iceland but D’Agostino is doubtful as to whether Aguero would be ready for that game.
The Argentine doctor spoke about the situation surrounding Aguero:
“That a player has undergone an arthroscopy with 60 days to go before the World Cup is worrying,”
“The recovery process will require at least five weeks. When one has old injuries, the recovery process is not as fast as one would like it to be. It’s never going to be less than three or four weeks, or even more.
“I imagine that he will not arrive 100 per cent fit with the limited time that is left before the World Cup. The anatomy is the anatomy. The injury is what it is. He can try but I don’t think he will arrive 100 per cent.
“The important thing is to know what he had. The doctors would have tried to resolve the issue in a conservative manner, non-surgically, but they were unsuccessful. The arthroscopy is a process that you do when there are old injuries.”
