Roma star Cengiz Under has revealed that he turned down the chance to sign for Manchester City in the summer.
The Turkey international has been in superb form for Roma this season and has shown his quality for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side.
Under was courted by a number of top clubs across Europe during the summer transfer window but a move to Roma was seemingly his preferred choice. He has since revealed that City lodged an offer to recruit him during the same summer.
Speaking to Turkish reporters, as cited in a report from talkSPORT, Under spoke about how he could have joined Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer of 2017.
I received an offer from Manchester City, but I did not agree terms with them. Roma’s project, as well as the attitude of the club and coach, was important to me.
Roma recruited Under from Istanbul Basaksehir FK after the wide man enjoyed a fantastic season in his homeland of Turkey. He has since cemented his place in the Italian side’s starting line-up and is repaying the faith shown in him.
