Manchester City travelled to Swansea on Wednesday night to continue what has already been a season of breaking records.
For some bizarre reason, there was a lot of focus on the former City striker Wilfried Bony due to his goal scoring record against his previous clubs.
However, he did very little to trouble Pep Guardiola’s side as they came out 4-0 winners in another mesmerising performance.
David Silva opened the scoring after getting on the end of a Bernardo Silva cross in the 27th minute with Kevin De Bruyne making it 2-0 in the 34th minute after a great free kick.
Silva bagged himself another goal seven minutes into the second half to make it three with Aguero finally getting back on the scoresheet when he made it 4-0.
City’s win took their number of consecutive league wins to 15, which is a brand new Premier League record and at the moment, it looks as though there is no sign of stopping Guardiola’s boys in blue.
Here are five things we learned from the game.
David Silva is a magician
Some City fans are now beginning to label David Silva as the best City player of all time and who can blame them.
The ball sticks to the Spaniard’s feet and his shaved head has given him another dimension to his performances and his goal scoring.
A goal in the Manchester Derby where he managed to get on the end of an Otamendi header, and it was a similar story for the opener against Swansea, where he put in a Bernardo Silva cross.
Bernardo Silva stepped up
It has been a mixed bag for Bernardo Silva since he joined Manchester City.
Due to the impressive form of Sane, De Bruyne and Silva, the Portuguese international has mostly made appearances in the League Cup and the odd Champions League match.
However, his performance against Swansea showed that he is willing to fight for a place in the team after a beautiful cross to set up the first goal.
Sergio Aguero is back to his old self
Sergio Aguero’s penalty against Shakhtar was exaclty what the Argentine needed to get back in goal scoring form.
Despite not featuring at all against Manchester United, Aguero was still his same old self, charging around like a dog and given the amount of chances he had against Swansea, it was inevitable one would go in.
Whether it be Jesus or Aguero who starts against Tottenham on Saturday, City fans should not be worried about where the goals will come from in the striking department.
Pep Guardiola could not be happier
One stand out moment from the Swansea match was City manager Pep Guardiola replying to Match of the Day’s Johnathan Pearce with ‘thank you’ with a smirk on his face after the commentator praised his side’s performance.
It is clear that Guardiola is enjoying life at City and his side’s performances are helping his obsession with football and silencing his critics after his first season in charge.
Wilfried Bony, City do not miss you
Wilfried Bony, despite the build up, failed to live up to the hype from the media.
