Kevin De Bruyne has insisted that he sees himself being a Manchester City player for a “long time”.
Speaking to Sky Sports, as quoted by Goal, the Belgian international discussed reports that City were in contact with his representatives regarding a new and improved contract.
De Bruyne has been arguably the best player in the Premier League this season, and has lit up City’s displays consistently with some wonderful creative performances.
The ex-Chelsea man was instrumental for City as they defeated Napoli 4-2 away from home to secure their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
De Bruyne appears to be committed to the project at City, and is keen to hang around.
There was an older team [when I first arrived], they did a lot of transfers, a lot of young people, they are building for the future.
I like the project and I am really happy here and I see myself being a long time here.
It’s clear to see that the playmaker has a good bond with manager Pep Guardiola, and is continuing to develop under his tutelage.
Since Pep came to the club, he plays a style of football I like to play, so it makes it easy as a player.
I like it here, it is the perfect environment and since I came here there has been a lot of trust in me. I like the project they are doing from the moment I came here.
De Bruyne will now hope to have an impact when his side welcome Arsenal in the Premier League.
