Bertrand open to City move
Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand is reportedly open to a move to Manchester City in January.
According to the Daily Mail, the Citizens could revive their interest in the left-back in the winter transfer window, as Pep Guardiola looks to bolster his wide defensive options.
It’s stated in the report that Saints would turn down any offers for their first choice left-back, and would only sell if an irresistible bid is made.
Bertrand was wanted in the summer by City as Pep Guardiola looked to revamp his wide, defensive options. However, the league leaders opted to stick with Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo – all of whom amounted to a fee in the region of £130m.
Mendy, though, is set to miss the duration of the season having ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
As a result of this, City have no natural left-back, and are set to dip into the market, with Bertrand on their radar.
