Sanchez can join City if Lemar joins Arsenal
Manchester City have made a £60m bid for Alexis Sanchez, and the deal could go ahead if Arsenal complete the signing of Monaco winger Tomas Lemar.
City have already had a £50m bid rejected by Arsenal, but the club are still confident that they can bring the Chilean forward to the Etihad Stadium.
Spanish journalist Guillem Balague tweeted that Sanchez’s arrival at City will happen if Lemar’s move to The Gunners is successful.
Twitter: Alexis close to sign for City for £55 + £5. Arsenal asked for few hours to sign Thomas Lemar, which they confident they are going to do (@GuillemBalague)
Lemar was set to be signing for Liverpool and continue their spending spreeSanche, but Arsenal have reportedly hijacked the deal with a £90m bid.
Sanchez, who is currently on international duty with Chile, is desperate to join Pep Guardiola after playing under him during his time at Barcelona.
City have also sent delegates out to Chile in order to speed up the deal.
Balague also revealed that Sterling was never set to leave City after rumoured to be part of a swap deal with Arsenal.
Twitter: 1. More detail on Sterling. When he heard he could be part of swap deal for Alexis, he rang Pep and was told City did not doubt for a second (@GuillemBalague)
Twitter: 2. Sterling was told he is fundamental for City and Arsenal were told they were not interested in including him in any deal (@GuillemBalague)
If City can pull off the Sanchez deal, his first game would be against Liverpool, a team he just played last weekend for Arsenal, where his side were beaten 4-0. There are some great betting offers to be had around this game, whether or not Sanchez is involved.
