Manchester City linked with Ben Gibson
Manchester City are being linked with a surprise move for Middlesbrough centre back Ben Gibson.
According to a report from the Daily Mail today, City remain keen to sign a new central defender and have identified Gibson as an option, with the season’s beginning under a week away.
The Boro defender enjoyed a successful season on a personal note, and earned his first ever England call-up.
This has led to interest from a plethora of top teams in England, but West Brom have expressed the most interest in securing his services. It’s been claimed in recent weeks that bids worth around £18m have been rejected for Gibson.
The 24-year-old is keen to return to the Premier League as soon as possible, but Garry Monk and the Middlesbrough chiefs are adamant that he will remain at the club to help them return to the top flight.
Gibson is stated to have been on Pep Guardiola’s radar for some time now, so a move this month could be on the cards.
